We are all very fortunate in this country to have access to good health care paid for by the Ministry of Health through our taxes. As our population ages, the cost of healthcare continues to rise, and as a result, there are more and more services that are not covered by the Ministry. The demand for these uninsured services has increased exponentially in the past few years. In the face of rising office expenses and government restrictions, we are unable to provide these services free of charge.
The payment of these services has become the responsibility of the patient or the agency requesting the service. While you may choose to pay for individual uninsured services on a “pay-per service' basis, we recommend that you consider our Annual Fee Plan, often referred to as a 'block fee'.

Payment can be made with visa, mastercard, debit card, cheque or cash. Please note HST is applicable for services rendered by Drs.Blankenstein and Muraca. Tax receipts are available upon request.
There are many time-consuming uninsured services for which OHIP does not compensate physicians: prescription renewals without an office visit ($35/renewal), sick notes/return to work letter ($35), medical letters to insurance companies or lawyers ($100+), massage therapy, physiotherapy and orthotic notes ($35), to name a few of the most commonly requested services. If your financial circumstances make it difficult to pay for an uninsured service, you may request an exemption.
